Reb Yonasan ben Uziel was the greatest of Hillel Hazaken's talmidim — of him it is said that he was worthy that the Shechinah rest upon him. His tziyun in Amuka is the place known the world over for opening the shaarei zivug.
The maaseh behind it
Chazal tell of his extraordinary kedushah: when he sat and learned Torah, any bird that flew over him was burned on the spot. When he wrote his Targum on Nevi'im mipi Chaggai, Zechariah and Malachi, Eretz Yisroel trembled. Al pi mesorah he was never zoche to children of his own — and that is precisely why his tziyun in Amuka became the makom hamesugal for a zivug and for zera shel kayama.
