Parnassah berevach and ashirus
Davening at Reb Tarfon's Tziyun — for Parnassah and Ashirus
Reb Tarfon — whom the Gemara calls more than once 'avihen shel kol Yisroel' — was enormously wealthy and was zoche to shnei shulchanos. Davening at his kever is a segulah for parnassah gedolah berevach. Before davening it is proper to be mekabel to give tzedakah to aniyim talmidei chachomim.
The maaseh behind it
It is brought at the end of Maseches Kallah: Reb Akiva asked Reb Tarfon whether he would like him to buy him a city or two. Reb Tarfon handed him four thousand gold dinarim — enough to live on for five hundred years. Reb Akiva gave every last coin away to aniyim. Some time later Reb Tarfon asked where his cities were. Reb Akiva took him by the hand into the beis medrash, opened a Tehillim and came to the posuk "Pizar nasan la'evyonim, tzidkaso omedes la'ad" — and said: "That is the city I bought for you." Reb Tarfon stood up, kissed him, called him "rebbi v'alufi" — and gave him another large sum to distribute to tzedakah.
What the shliach does there
The shliach says the gantze sefer Tehillim at the tziyun, b'kavanah and unhurried, reads kapitel kuf-yud-beis seven times — "Hon va'osher b'veiso v'tzidkaso omedes la'ad, pizar nasan la'evyonim" — and lights zibben licht l'ilui nishmas Reb Tarfon.
